Following Keith Holloway’s very sad death in September, the remaining members of Bosun Higgs got together and discussed the band’s future, and we have decided that, without Keith, the band will not continue to perform.
We’ve had some great gigs and memorable times together as a band, and we would like to thank everyone who came to our dances, all the callers who have called for us, and all the organisers who booked us. An especial thanks goes to Barry Pearce, our sound engineer at so many gigs, who was great to work with and always gave us a brilliant sound.
We’d also like to thank Doug Bailey of Wildgoose Studios for all the excellent work he put into the recording
ourCD ’A Most Particular Vintage’ – and, of course, all of you who bought copies.
There are still copies of the CD available, which is Keith’s final recording of the many he made with numerous people and bands throughout his life. We will end by repeating our heartfelt thanks to you all, and, in remembrance of Keith, with a quote from of Terry Pratchett, one of Keith's and the band's very favourite authors, 'a man is not dead while his name is still spoken'.

It is with great sadness that we have to say that Keith Holloway, our great melodeon player, died on the 13th September after a valiant fight against Mesothelioma, a very specific (and vicious) type of cancer due to asbestos exposure. During all this time, Keith never lost his joyful spirit and love of music and playing. He was playing music right to the last. We, along with his family and all of his friends, will miss him greatly. R.I.P Keith |
