Carly Rose is probably best known as a founding member of Euro Divas ‘Token Women’, but has also played with many other bands, for Morris, Mumming and all manner of mayhem since the 1980’s. She plays a bewildering range of percussion instruments and squeezes a mean melodeon as well. Having taken the last few years out to pursue her doctoral studies, she is now very excited to be returning to the national ceilidh scene with ‘Bosun Higgs’.

After almost forty years of playing in Ceilidh bands, Keith is delighted to be part of "Bosun Higgs," playing melodeons. Having played mandolin, harmonica and guitar over the years, and latterly bass with Random, he has an instinctive feel for playing for dancing. He's been quoted as saying "This is an exciting project, involving incredible players, from some of the country's top bands, I'm proud to be a part of it".

With a background in Blues and Northern Soul, Neil Gledhill was recruited into the very popular and influential English country dance band Old Swan Band in the early 90’s and has been playing bass saxophone with them since, supplying gutsy and imaginative bass lines. In recent years, Neil has added the excellent ‘Shropshire Heroes’ and ‘Pendle Hill Mob’ dance bands to his CV, and is now pleased to be part of Bosun Higgs, enjoying adding his style of bass saxophone to the band’s mix.

Taz's fiddle style is based largely on Southern English traditional fiddle styles, but with others in the mix. Playing for dance has always been important for Taz, and he has honed this skill both through playing for Morris dancing and in English country dance bands, including the popular Grand Union, English String Band and The Old Chapel Band. With these dance bands Taz has played at many national festivals and ceilidh series, where he has also led music sessions and given workshops on fiddle playing. Taz is looking forward to continue this with the great musicians in Bosun Higgs. See also Taz's website www.taztarry.com

Martin met Taz Tarry when both were members of Redbornstoke Morris. Martin was already performing in a duo - Ragged Robin - with singer and songwriter Maureen McGuinness, playing folk clubs around Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and the Home Counties, as well as festivals such as Bedworth, Wath and Chippenham. He fitted an important, banjo-sized hole in the locally popular Taz Tarry-led dance band, Jack O'Legs and played with the band until Taz moved to Gloucestershire. Martin now has occasional solo gigs at folk clubs and has joined with two other Redbornstokers - Brian Mander and John Eagling - to form the acapella trio, Bunyan's Oak. When the opportunity arose to work with Taz again in Bosun Higgs, he jumped at the chance.
